The Importance of Employee Appreciation

  • On January 19, 2023

Consider the last time you gave a project or presentation; you gave it your all, crafted it into something you were proud of and executed it flawlessly. When others notice, that sense of success is uplifted and amplified immensely. Whether they share kudos in front of your team or words of encouragement one on one, you will feel motivated.

Similarly, when workers receive recognition for their accomplishments, such as company branded gifts, they experience a sense of pride and ownership. These forms of recognition motivate employees to put in just as much effort on the next project. They feel more a part of the organization, perform better, and are more likely to stick around if they receive recognition. Additionally, if your company gifts high quality products, these tokens of appreciation will stay with the customer for long to come.

According to Globoforce Employee Recognition Survey, the level of frustration in organizations with recognition programs in place is 28.6% lower than in those without. Let’s explore the importance of planning and executing employee retention with branded gifts, awards, and card reminders.

Improve Employee Happiness

Until recently, being content at work was, at best, meaningless. Companies didn’t care about their workers’ happiness, morale, or mental health; they thought a paycheck was sufficient.

Each week, employees put in at least 40 hours at work. While many are still working from home, it’s common for them to spend more time with coworkers than with their families. When leaders see the actual value of praise, employee morale rises personally, and at the company level. Showing and giving appreciation will significantly improve employee happiness. Employees will feel valued at the end of each workday and their relationships with coworkers will benefit from this as well.

Boost Employee Morale

We spend so much time at work that it can quickly become a habit to arrive every day. You may feel taken advantage of if you are not fairly rewarded. Morale won’t benefit from this. Simply taking the time to recognize staff members individually is a fantastic example of employee recognition.

A straightforward way to show your employees you care about them is to acknowledge their efforts and time. People frequently quit their jobs or lose their can-do attitude after putting in a lot of effort and feeling like it was for nothing after a while. One study showed that there is an 83% increase in engagement when employees are recognized for their small wins and efforts at work. Avoid unfavorable emotions by proactively rewarding your staff with items that are important to them.

Build Company’s Loyalty

Similar to employee retention, rewarding employees increases their loyalty to your business. Employees are more likely to feel satisfied with their place of employment when they are welcomed and treated as team members. They become more engaged and productive as a result. You don’t want your employees to regret working for your organization.

Your employees are clients of the workplace, make them feel they made the right decision by joining your organization. They are more likely to stay with the friendly and encouraging team they work with when they feel their efforts are valued. The best way to make your employees feel special is by giving them branded gifts as an employee recognition campaign. These campaigns can be decided at a company or team level. If your organization has a lot of tenured employees, you can use major milestones such as work anniversaries.

Retain Expertise

Do you need help keeping your top employees? You’re not alone, and it can be related to what was said earlier. A person is four times more likely to leave their current work if they are disengaged.

Find out what the problem is by sitting down with your team. It frequently stems from a need for recognition and gratitude. Similarly, when workers receive recognition for their accomplishments, such as company branded gifts, they experience a sense of pride and ownership

You can invest all your time, resources, and effort into the hiring process and promoting your business as a great place to work, but once people start working there, they still need to feel appreciated and wanted. Your attempts to retain employees begin before hiring, so you should keep up the good job. Giving them awards or gifts as recognition of their service will improve their perception of the workplace.

Improve Productivity

Some workers may be motivated to quit procrastinating and increase their focus if they know they will receive rewards such as branded gifts if they and their team go above and beyond. But it’s vital that, in this case, the prize is a given and not a guess. Be specific about what individuals can anticipate if they put in more effort.  If you praise and reward someone for a job well-done, they are more likely to repeat the action.

Decide to reward staff for productivity that genuinely matters and advances your long-term objectives. In a recent survey, it was recorded that 69% of employees say they’d work harder if they were better appreciated. Seeing how their job fits into the more comprehensive picture and feeling like an essential piece of the jigsaw, will help them feel more motivated.
