History

Paul Doucette and Tom Cyr met while they were both salesmen for the A.B. Dick Company covering Boston and its suburban communities. One of Paul's routine visits was to Circle Graphics, a family-owned duplicating shop on Huntington Avenue in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston. Months following the owner's death, his wife wanted to sell. At the same time, Tom had been studying franchise opportunities in the many 'quick print' businesses that were popular. Together, Paul and Tom sized up the situation, felt good about the Circle Graphics location and it's potential growth possibility, and decided to buy the business.

They incorporated at the end of 1982 under the name Medi-Print, Inc., primarily because of their close proximity to all of the medical institutions that occupy the area and with a business plan to concentrate their efforts in that field. They opened under the name The Print House in January 1983. Paul, Tom and their wives poured all of their efforts into making the business work. They hired their first employee within a year. Business was good enough that within four years they opened a second location in Jamaica Plain, then a third two years later in Medford. According to Tom, "we were primarily a copy center early on and we believed the best way to grow was to have retail centers to attract and accommodate walk-in customers looking for copying services."

After 10 years they had a shift in business philosophy and decided to move away from quick printing and into a more commercial type of printing operation with a sales and customer service team. They closed the Medford copy center and moved the offset printing and graphics out of the Boston location, but still maintaining a copy center on site. Printing, graphics and bindery were centralized in their new 10,000 sq. ft. Charlestown location. They then closed the Jamaica Plain copy center. The Print House has since moved its main production facility to our present location in Malden.

The Print House now has 3 locations: our production facility in Malden, our copy center in the Longwood Medical area of Boston and our graphic design center onsite at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

“What's kept me loyal for more than 15 years is their great service. ”
